Kason 1248 spring assisted door hinges
The Kason 1248 door hinge is a heavy-duty, spring-assisted, cam-rise hinge primarily used for walk-in cooler and freezer doors. Its design helps overcome air resistance in commercial cold storage units, ensuring the door closes properly to maintain efficiency.
Key Features
- Application: Designed for heavy walk-in cooler and freezer doors.
- Mechanism: Features a special high-lift cam system and spring mechanism that lifts the door slightly as it opens/closes, which reduces gasket wear and helps the door overcome air resistance.
- Dwell Feature: Has a built-in dwell that holds the door open beyond approximately 130° to 135°.
- Reversible Operation: Can be manually reversed for use on both right- or left-opening doors.
- Material and Finish: Made from high-pressure, die-cast zinc with a self-lubricating nylon cam and a polished or brushed chrome finish.
Available Variations
The Kason 1248 hinge comes in different configurations, primarily varying by the offset, which is the distance between the surface of the door and the door frame (jamb):
- Flush Mount: The door and the jamb are at the same surface.
- Offset Options: Available in various offset measurements, including 1/8", 1-1/8", 1-1/4", 1-3/8", 1-1/2", 1-5/8", 1-3/4", and 2".
- Spring vs. No Spring: While typically spring-assisted, models without the spring mechanism are also available for purchase
