Refrigeration gaskets

DOOR GASKETS for Commercial Refrigeration equipment.

DIY Replacement

Commercial refrigerator gaskets are seals that attach to the edge of a refrigerator or freezer door to create an air-tight barrier, which is critical for maintaining internal temperatures and energy efficiency. They come in various styles and materials tailored to specific unit models.

Best practice: Perform regular maintenance by cleaning your door gaskets with a non abrasive solution.

Common Gasket Types and Materials
Commercial gaskets differ in how they attach to the unit and the material they are made from, impacting their durability and installation method.

Types of Gaskets
  • Magnetic Gaskets: These are widely used and feature magnets within the seal to create a strong, reliable closure that adheres to the metal door frame. They are typically easy to install and often do not require tools.
  • Push-In/Snap-In Gaskets: These have a dart or an arrow-like insert that fits into a groove or channel on the refrigerator door frame. They offer easy, tool-free installation and removal for cleaning or replacement.
  • Screw-In Gaskets: Secured directly to the door with screws, this style provides a very sturdy and permanent seal, ideal for high-traffic or heavy-duty environments.
  • Compression Gaskets: These seals work by physically compressing when the door is closed, forming a tight barrier. They are often used with mechanical latches in older or specific custom units and may be found in drawer applications
Proper measurement is crucial for selecting the correct replacement gasket.
  • Measuring:
    1. Identify the gasket type (magnetic, push-in, etc.).
    2. Measure from the outside edge to outside edge of the gasket, for both width and length, if the existing gasket is not distorted.
    3. If the gasket is missing or distorted, measure from the inside edge (dart center) of the groove to the opposite inside edge.
    4. Always refer to the appliance's model or part number, typically found on a sticker on the unit, for the most accurate replacement specifications
  • Installation:
    1. Remove the old gasket by pulling it from the corners or unscrewing it if it is a screw-in type.
    2. Clean the gasket track thoroughly with warm, soapy water to remove any residue.
    3. Soak the new gasket in warm water for 5-10 minutes to soften it and make installation easier.
    4. Insert the new gasket by lining up the dart with the channel and pressing it firmly into place, starting at the corners and working towards the center.
    5. Check the seal by closing the door to ensure a proper, air-tight fit.
