Traulsen thermostats and cold controls in stock. We have the most commonly replaced cold controls for Traulsen refrigerator, freezer or coolers in stock right here at O-Reps. Traulsen defrost timers are electro-mechanical or electronic control devices that regulate the defrost cycles in commercial refrigeration units. They are essential for preventing the buildup of frost and ice on the evaporator coils, which would otherwise hinder the cooling system's performance.

Key functions and features
Regulates defrost cycles: The timer initiates and terminates the defrost cycle at preset intervals. For example, a unit might be programmed to run a defrost cycle for 15 to 30 minutes every 6 to 12 hours of compressor operation.
Manages system components: During the defrost cycle, the timer turns off the refrigeration compressor and turns on a defrost heater. It is designed to prevent both the compressor and heater from being on at the same time.
Protects from overheating: A separate defrost thermostat works in conjunction with the timer. It opens the heater circuit when the evaporator temperature reaches a certain level (around 40°F / 5°C), preventing excessive heating.
Improves efficiency: By controlling the defrost process, the timer helps the refrigeration unit run efficiently and maintain a proper temperature for the stored products.
